The Center for Psychedelic Medicine at NYU Langone Health is directed by Dr. Michael Bogenschutz and performs health-focused research across the translational spectrum, from basic science to large-phase clinical trials. The center has three transdisciplinary areas of focus: psychiatry, medicine, and preclinical research. Currently, the team is actively investigating clinical applications for various psychedelic compounds, leading robust studies on psilocybin-assisted therapy for alcohol use disorder, major depression, and advanced cancer-related psychiatric distress.
NYU’s Center for Psychedelic Medicine sits firmly in the academic, research-led end of the field rather than the commercial training circuit. Its strongest offer is for clinicians and researchers who want sober, evidence-based exposure to psychedelic medicine, with lineage that includes well-known researchers and faculty from outside NYU in its CME offerings. It looks especially credible for people who want rigorous context, not certificate-chasing, but it is not currently a broad public therapist-training provider.
Best suited to clinicians, scientists, psychiatry trainees and current NYU-affiliated researchers who want academically grounded psychedelic medicine education. It is also useful for the informed public via research dissemination, but the hands-on training is restricted to affiliated trainees and study personnel.
For research training, qualified candidates are junior scientists with a PhD, with or without an MD or clinical training, received within the past four years for junior faculty positions and within the past two years for postdoctoral positions. For clinical training, NYU says it is not currently offering psychedelic therapy training experiences for clinicians who are not already affiliated with the centre, and it offers study-specific training and supervision for clinicians on affiliated clinical research projects.
NYU Langone’s Centre offers a CE/CME course called Psychedelic Medicine. NYU Grossman School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians, and NYU states the course is a CE/CME activity.

The CME course is described as day-long and registration-based, but cost is not stated on the centre page; one NYU CME policy page notes registration fees are handled through the CME office and may involve administrative fees in general, but not this course specifically.
Learners can expect evidence-based knowledge of psychedelic medicine, current research, clinical trial context, and, for affiliated trainees, supervised experience in study-specific psychedelic therapy or research. The research training programme aims to help junior scientists build independent, government-funded research careers, with salary support, mentorship and pilot funding.
