Blossom’s read

Drug Science sits towards the evidence-led, policy-minded end of the psychedelic training field rather than the retreat or spirituality end. Its training offer looks best for clinicians and adjacent professionals who want a sober, science-grounded route into psychedelic practice, with a strong UK lineage through Prof David Nutt and the Drug Science Medical Psychedelics Working Group. It appears credible and well-connected, but also opinionated in its framing and not a neutral marketplace provider.

Who Drug Science is for

Best suited to healthcare professionals, with some routes also open to others who can show solid mental health understanding, prior academic achievement and a compassionate-care orientation. It also appears relevant to social workers, chaplains, coaches and other people working with vulnerable groups.

Prerequisites

For the UK Professional Certificate, Drug Science says it is aimed at registered Health and Social Care professionals, or complementary practitioners with at least two years' experience. The FAQ also says non-healthcare applicants may be accepted if they can demonstrate adequate understanding of mental health issues, sufficient prior academic achievement and an orientation towards compassionate care.

Accreditation & recognition

Drug Science says it audits and accredits psychedelic training programmes worldwide, and describes its hub as a source of 'audited and Drug Science accredited' courses. It also says graduates of the UK PsyEdu Certificate automatically become professional members of the PsyEdu Network. I did not find evidence of formal external university, professional-body, or CME/CE accreditation on the pages reviewed.

Cost

The UK Professional Certificate is listed at £5,500 plus a £300 enrolment fee, for a year-long postgraduate programme. The New Zealand programme is listed at $6,370 NZD, with payment plans possibly available and bursary consideration for practitioners serving under-resourced communities. Drug Science also references a free guided psilocybin retreat, though applications are closed.

What you walk away with

Learners appear to leave with a Drug Science-endorsed or accredited training pathway, stronger theoretical and practical knowledge, and professional membership of the PsyEdu Network for the UK certificate. The site says past learners have gone on to clinical psychedelic trials, preparation and integration therapy, retreat facilitation, therapeutic sitting services and ketamine-assisted psychotherapy.
