The manuals converge on integration as a core part of psychedelic-assisted therapy, not an optional add-on. Across MDMA, psilocybin, ketamine, LSD, 5-MeO-DMT, ayahuasca, and related protocols, the common pattern is post-dose sessions that help participants process thoughts, feelings, memories, insights, and difficult material, then connect those experiences to daily life, relationships, coping, recovery goals, or symptom change. Many sources also frame integration as meaning-making, emotional support, and consolidation of therapeutic gains, often with follow-up contact after the acute session. Sources differ mainly in structure and emphasis. Some manuals specify tightly timed schedules, such as next-day, Day 1, Day 7, or multiple sessions over one to two weeks, while others describe more flexible follow-up or additional contact when needed. The content focus also varies, with some protocols emphasising relapse prevention, CBT targets, or recovery planning, while others stress grounding after intense states, narrative exploration, or support for trauma, shame, confusion, or reactivations. A few sources explicitly note remote or video integration, and some distinguish integration from interpretation by stressing reflective, participant-led discussion rather than directive treatment.
