Mind Medicine Australia is a national nonprofit that has played a defining role in Australia's regulated psychedelic-access environment. Its public work spans rescheduling advocacy, implementation support, clinician training, patient support funding, and ongoing efforts to broaden access pathways.

Although it is broader than a pure patient group, it is too important to leave out of Blossom's access map. The organization now reports active involvement in regulatory follow-through, rollout improvements, patient support, and collaboration with End Wise on palliative-care expansion.

Blossom’s read

Mind Medicine Australia sits at the clinical and policy end of the psychedelic field rather than the retreat or wellness end. Its CPAT programme appears best suited to qualified health professionals who want structured, regulator-facing preparation for legally delivered psychedelic-assisted therapy in Australia, not curious laypeople or informal facilitators. The organisation has real lineage in the Australian legalisation story and has recruited recognised figures from psychiatry and psychotherapy, but it is also a strong advocate, so readers should see it as a mission-led training provider with an explicit change agenda rather than a neutral university-style faculty.

Who Mind Medicine Australia is for

Best for registered clinicians and allied health professionals who want to work in regulated psychedelic-assisted therapy in Australia. It also has a lower-intensity fundamentals course for clinicians, trainees, and interested members of the public.

Prerequisites

CPAT is aimed at healthcare and mental health professionals and other eligible practitioners, and the course is described as building on skills already acquired in the mental health field. MMA says the three main roles are prescriber, primary therapist, and secondary therapist. Application and interview requirements apply, and applicants must sign a Student Code of Conduct.

Accreditation & recognition

CPAT is accredited by the Australian Medical CPD Standard. MMA states CPAT is accredited for 113 hours of Educational Activity and 14 hours of Reviewing Performance for psychiatrists and other medical doctors, and for 127 hours of CPD for psychologists and other healthcare professionals. MMA also says the course has been peer-reviewed by independent panels of psychiatrists and psychologists, and can count towards CPD points through relevant professional colleges or associations. Its shorter Fundamentals course offers a certificate of completion and 15 CPD hours.

Cost

CPAT pricing on MMA’s site is an application fee of $250 non-refundable, plus a course fee of $10,950 paid by instalments or $9,950 upfront, GST inclusive. MMA also says financial assistance is available for those unable to afford the full fee. The shorter Fundamentals course is marketed as a 6-week online programme with a $500 AUD CPAT credit, making the effective fee about $99 if used as intended.

What you walk away with

Learners receive a CPAT credential and training in the knowledge and skills to safely and effectively administer psychedelic-assisted therapies in clinical settings. MMA positions the course as preparing practitioners for prescribing, primary therapy, or secondary therapy roles within regulated multidisciplinary care, and says graduates may gain professional experience through the MMA clinic. The Fundamentals course yields a certificate of completion and 15 CPD hours.
