Menla is a Tibetan healing arts retreat center in the Catskill Mountains of Phoenicia, New York, offering ketamine-assisted psychotherapy retreats and hosting trainings such as the Ketamine Training Center's Dharma K residential program. The center integrates contemplative Buddhist traditions with evidence-based psychedelic therapy in a mountain sanctuary setting.

Blossom’s read

Menla sits a little apart from the mainstream psychedelic training market: it is first and foremost a Tibetan retreat centre and only secondarily a venue for ketamine and integration trainings. Its strongest appeal is likely for licensed clinicians and contemplative practitioners who want an experiential, retreat-based setting with explicit Buddhist and mindfulness framing rather than a purely clinical classroom. The reputation signal is mixed but generally solid for this niche, with long-running partnerships with the Ketamine Training Center / Ketamine Research Foundation and faculty that include established names in psychotherapy, psychiatry and contemplative practice.

Who Menla is for

Best suited to licensed clinicians, therapists and other helping professionals who want experiential ketamine or psychedelic-integration training in a retreat environment. Some programmes also welcome non-clinician helping professionals, but the offerings appear more practitioner-facing than public-facing.

Prerequisites

Varies by programme. Some retreats are open to all clinicians and helping professionals, while others specify that prior AEDP training is needed if you have not taken an immersion course, or that applicants should already have experience with mindfulness and psychedelic medicine. Several programmes require application, screening calls, and medical intake, and some are not suitable for people in acute crisis or with chronic untreated psychiatric conditions.

Accreditation & recognition

Menla itself does not appear to be an accrediting body. For at least one earlier clinician retreat, CE credits for psychologists were provided by the Spiritual Competency Resource Center, and a Menla-hosted ketamine training partnered with PeerPoint Medical Education Institute to provide a certificate of training and 30 AMA Category I credits. Some retreat pages only mention a certificate of attendance or explicitly state that no continuing education credit is offered.

Cost

Costs vary by programme and are usually not all-inclusive. Examples on Menla pages include tuition of $2,500 per person plus housing, medical screening and sometimes medication costs for professional retreats, $2,850 plus housing and medical intake for a mindfulness retreat, and couple programmes priced around $1,850 to $2,150 per person plus separate housing and medical intake. Housing and meals are typically charged separately, with room rates on one page listed around $250 to $380 per night including vegetarian meals.

What you walk away with

Learners typically walk away with experiential familiarity with ketamine-assisted work, integration skills, mindfulness or contemplative practice tools, and in some cases a certificate of training or certificate of attendance. Depending on the programme, outcomes may include CME or CE credit, a recognised training certificate, cohort follow-up integration, or practical competence for offering or supporting KAP and psychedelic integration work.
