Its training is best understood as experiential apprenticeship around a live psychedelic support line, with a second layer of paid Fireside-Certified coaching for people who want longer-term peer support work. In the field, that puts it closer to peer-support and crisis-response training than to a formal academic qualification, with lineage and credibility drawn from psychedelic peer support traditions and the founders’ support-line experience.

Who Fireside Project is for

Best suited to people who already have some psychedelic experience and want practical, supervised training in non-clinical peer support, especially if they are interested in support line work or psychedelic coaching. It seems most relevant to aspiring practitioners, peer supporters, and some licensed clinicians who want harm-reduction and integration skills rather than therapy credentials.

Prerequisites

For the volunteer training, Fireside says you must have had your own psychedelic experiences. There are no specific required degrees, licences, or prior experience, although past emotional-support work is a plus. Volunteers also commit to a full year on the support line and must attend the full Zoom training and complete the self-paced modules.

Accreditation & recognition

I could not find evidence of formal accreditation, CME, or CE credit for the volunteer training. Fireside describes the volunteer programme as experiential training and, separately, its coaching pathway as a Fireside-Certified™ process, but that appears to be an internal designation rather than an external professional accreditation.

Cost

The volunteer training is described as 100% free, though donors may be invited to contribute towards the cost of training. Fireside’s paid coaching service is separate from the volunteer training, but the search results I found did not show public tuition for the coaching programme on the pages reviewed.

What you walk away with

Volunteers complete a training mix of self-paced modules, Zoom learning, supervised shifts, and a written test, after which they begin taking calls on the Psychedelic Support Line. Learners gain practical skills in active listening, ethics, confidentiality, boundaries, emergency and suicidality response, trauma-informed care, culturally attuned care, integration, tripsitting, and self-care. The paid coaching pathway leads to Fireside-Certified™ status through an internal 30-step, 300-hour training process.
