Detailed Description

This synthetic trial has been added to our database because a psychedelic paper (about a clinical trial) references this trial, but no (live) registration can be found. The study was an open, uncontrolled observational series conducted between 1980 and 1983 in California and New Mexico. The researchers collected phenomenological descriptions of the therapists' observations and the subjects' experiences before, during, and after the MDMA sessions.

The intervention involved the oral administration of MDMA, with some participants receiving a second dose to extend the duration of the session. Because the primary objective was to assist participants in achieving their individual therapeutic goals, the study did not include placebo controls, double-blind assessments, or formal psychological evaluations by independent observers.
