Psilocybin Induces Aberrant Prediction Error Processing of Tactile Mismatch Responses-A Simultaneous EEG-FMRI Study

Psilocybin reduced neural responses to surprising tactile stimuli, decreasing activity in frontal regions, visual cortex and cerebellum and attenuating frontal tactile mismatch negativity, consistent with aberrant prediction‑error processing and 5‑HT2A‑mediated disruption of bodily‑self integration. These findings link altered tactile deviancy processing to changes in self‑experience and suggest relevance for psychiatric disorders characterised by aberrant bodily self‑awareness.

Serotonin 2A receptor signaling underlies LSD-induced alteration of the neural response to dynamic changes in music

Using BOLD fMRI tonality‑tracking in 25 healthy adults given placebo, LSD and LSD pretreated with the 5‑HT2A antagonist ketanserin, the study shows that 5‑HT2A receptor signalling mediates LSD‑induced alterations in neural tracking of dynamic tonal structure in music. These changes occur across auditory, musical, memory, emotion and self‑referential brain regions and likely underlie the increased emotionality, connectedness and perceived meaningfulness of music during psychedelic states.

Spatiotemporal Brain Dynamics of Emotional Face Processing Modulations Induced by the Serotonin 1A/2A Receptor Agonist Psilocybin

This randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled study (n=30) investigated the effects of psilocybin (12mg/70kg) on emotional face processing as measured with EEG and found a reduced neural response to both neutral and emotional faces induced by psilocybin due to a psilocybin-induced increase in top-down control.
